Cape Peninsula # urban & wild

In the South African autumn, I took a day of driving and walking around the Cape Peninsula, encountering elands, baboons, and other wildlife.

They were confident and curious about my intrusion, and I found myself blissfully wondering about how the Cape Peninsula makes a wonderful meeting point for the wildlife and urbanlife to explore each other, (re)building equal grounds and mutual respect.

The natural heritage site and the experience of being guided by a competent and curious marine biologist seem to illustrate well how the memorable and transformative heritage experiences include personal immersion into preserved nature and a competent interpretive guide with an eye for the wildlife and an ear for the visitor.
